What type of car finance did you have?

Eligibility checker — common questions

Who is eligible for a car finance claim?

You may be eligible if you took out PCP, HP or conditional sale car finance between 6 April 2007 and 1 November 2024 and were not clearly told about commission the dealer or broker received from the lender. Personal leases (PCH), personal loans and 0% deals are generally excluded. Eligibility is decided case by case and is not guaranteed.

Do I have to use a claims company to check eligibility?

No. You can complain to your lender directly for free and do not need a claims management company. If you choose to use one, its fee is capped at up to 36% including VAT under FCA rules.

Can I claim if I have already paid off the finance?

Yes. Agreements that have been settled or fully paid off can still be eligible, as can agreements where the car was returned. The claim relates to how the finance was sold, not whether it is still running.

When will eligible customers be paid?

Under the FCA redress scheme, once you accept an offer the lender must normally pay within one month. However, the scheme is currently subject to a legal challenge that the FCA has said will delay payouts, so timescales are uncertain.
